One of the things I do for the store is finishing. But I specialize in a particular type of finishing. We have a few customers who, as knitters, are technically quite capable but sometimes the math just gets away from them. So what does this mean? It means scissors! Yes kids, I take scissors to those knittd garments that you spent so much time screwing up knitting so meticulously. Because there are some yarns (whether you like them or not) that are not meant to be ripped out (even though should have neer been knitted in the first place).
so we have the before:
and the after:
love my sewing machine and i love my serger! The sweater was sewn together the "proper" way with yarn and needle. Once Fritz is back with the camera and the computer, I will gladly post the "how it looked on customer" pic :)

Does that mean I should bring in the Starmore (yes, Starmore) that my friend made me years ago that I could wear comfortably if I was siamese twins?
Your incredible skills saved my sweater from being thrown across the room. I didn't mind that my project was the subject of a how-to-fix-what-not-to-do class. And I admit to being determined not to give yet another of my knitted garments to you! As an aside, there was a major weight loss involved (okay, maybe not that major but from 16 to a 12 is ...um, notable...).
that's a whole different post ma! :) (my mom does have the math challenge - but her sweater was a gauge issue)
You what! I cringed when I read that...
Thanks for your post too and many a congratulations for third place.
A finisher...boy, wish you could see me bowing down to you because of those skills!! One day, baby, one day I will be so confident in my finishing...WTG.
That's quite a wing-ectomy you performed there! You *must* share the "how it looked on customer" picture.
scissors! knitted pieces! whooo! my heart bleeded when i read this, thinking of the *hours* one spent to knit the pattern...
but in the end your result is just wonderful!
i threw away a sweater made of mohair yarn becaus i couldn´t rip it... the next sweater will be sent right away to your doorstep to fix it!
good job ^.^
oh... i´m anonym? sorry...
was me, not thinking before clicking... :o
You are my hero! I have done this before - in secret - somehow thinking I was "cheating". It's out in the open now, and it's acceptable. I can come out of the knitting/sewing closet.
(and a 16 to a 12, yeah, that IS notable)
To Theresa: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I thought it was pretty notable, too. Re gauge: Unfortunately, because I knit very loose I've given sweaters to Marietta until I finally realized that I simply wasn't able to knit to gauge after about 3 rows. I drop down to whatever size needles work, knitting continental on circulars. Mar's LYS boss says I'm a very relaxed knitter (Mar, be quiet...)
