i like maximilian. that was my grandpas name. maybe i like it for this very reason.
sorry, but i don´t think that a "maximillian" would be cool. looks (no, it IS) wrong, and "milli" is definitely a shortening for a girl´s name.
but.... think you´ll be happy with your boy, no matter what his name may be!
