Too hot to blog!!!

It has been a HOT week! Too hot to be motivated to craft on any level or to share the crafting for that matter. BUT there is a finished knitted object to share:

Yarn – trekking xxl 1 skein
Needles – 2.25mm
Pattern – my head, cast on 72 stitches, 2x2 rib leg, short row heel

I had finished the first sock ages ago (October) and cast on the second sock immediately – and finished it not too long after. Well, the 2nd sock was somehow 1” shorter than the first sock. So it sat and it sat until I felt the desire to rip it out and redo the toe - last week.

They will soon be on their way to the other side of the pond as a slightly late birthday present. I have another friend in Germany that I want to knit socks for but his feet are much bigger and that requires a greater commitment – I’m thinkin’ for Christmas.

I was also house-sitting this past week for Jacqui at Woolwinders and look what she brought me as a present:

It is yummy Mongolian Cashmere yarn just for me! Gloves? Hat? Socks? What to make?!?!

And the other oddity of the week was this:

He (she?) was hanging outside the scene shop door on Friday afternoon. Someone thought it was a rhinoceros beetle. Who knows? It was big and icky.

Love the socks - good for you for getting both finished (my little problem!)
Hate the bug. Gross. Looks prehistoric!

Such a sensuous yarn - maybe you might consider a cowl? - so that you can feel its comfort on your face whenever you want...

I really love your socks, such warm and calm colors - great! That bug is not so great though, argh - I got shivers running down my spine with just looking at the pic!
Great yarn you got by the way, looking forward to see it knit up by you!

it looks like a "hirschkäfer", but the colour is creepy.

Weird. I found one of these bugs (dead) in the back window ledge of the car today. Strangely, I thought of you. :) I'd never seen one in real life before.
